Organizations Filed Purposes:
Open Dance Project is an ensemble-driven dance theater company dedicated to developing & presenting world class dance theater experiences in Houston & serving as a cultural resource through its engaging & enrighing education & community programming.
Dance Theater Performances: Conceived, developed & presented public performances for the general public at venues including The Moody Center for the Arts, MATCH- Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston, the Wortham Theater, and Studio5 Performing Arts Center. Productions included: the critically acclaimed multimedia, immersive "Panopiticon;" which premiered in Houston at MATCH & later toured to Studio5 in Evanston, Illinois; the family show "Alice" & Aerial Arts Show "Altus", new works for Dance Houston's 15th Anniversary Celebration of Dance & Barnstorm; as well as a full day of free family performances at MATCH's "Family Fun Day." The company also toured, "Staging Stories" & "ENGINulty!" about the science & history of engines - to hundreds of students across the Houston area.
Dance Theater Classes & Workshops: Developed & led over 3000 hours of classroom workshops, residencies, performances, & professional development workshops (teacher trainings) in Houston area studios, schools, and afterschool programs.
Guest Artist Residencies/Artist Exchanges: Co-hosted master classes & workshops by three guest artists in 2019 (Amy Morrow, Rohan Bhargava, & Pilobolus); appeared as a guest artist at the Artist for Hope festival at San Jacinto College; shared company class with CORE Dance, an Atlanta based company during their Houston visit; and sponsored 3 apprentices in our professional apprentice program.
