THE GLOBAL LEARNERS PROGRAM MENTORS MIDDLE REFUGEE STUDENTS THROUGH ACTIVITIES THAT PROMOTE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ACQUISITION, BUILD SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL SKILLS, AND UNDERSTAND AND COMPLETE SCHOOLWORK. THROUGH GROUP MENTORING AFTER-SCHOOL AND DURING SUMMER, SESSIONS ENCOURAGE UNDERSTANDING AND FRIENDSHIP THROUGH GROUP ACTIVITIES AND FIELD TRIPS TO EXPLORE THE CITY. OVER 100 PARTICIPANTS FROM FOUR MIDDLE SCHOOLS ARE SERVEDEACH YEAR, ACHIEVING A SMOOTHER TRANSITION TO THEIR NEW HOME AND NEW SCHOOL AND A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OFAMERICAN CULTURE. STUDENTS BUILD POSITIVE ATTITUDES TOWARDS SCHOOL AND INCREASE ACADEMIC COMPETENCE.AS A RESULT OF THE COVID-19 RELATED SCHOOL SHUT-DOWNS IN SPRING, 2020, GLOBAL LEARNERS MOVED TO A HYBRID PROGRAM FORMAT. HYBRID ENGAGEMENT INCLUDED THE DELIVERY OF HOME EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS THAT CONNECTED TO VIRTUAL CURRICULUM ACTIVITIES. OVER 100 HOME VISITS PROVIDED FAMILIES WITH EMERGENCY INFORMATION AND RESOURCES RELATED TO COVID-19, AND EDUCATION AND ENRICHMENT MATERIALS TO SUSTAIN LEARNING WHILE AT HOME.

GLOBAL LEADERS HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM EMPOWER REFUGEE STUDENTS TO EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEIR FUTURE AND DEVELOP LEADERSHIP AND LIFE SKILLS NECESSARY TO ATTAIN HIGHER EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT. PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE PRIMARILY AFTER-SCHOOL AND INVOLVES GROUP MENTORING, COLLEGE AND CAREER EXPLORATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS. STUDENTS DEVELOP MORE POSITIVE OPINIONS OF SCHOOL, BUILD POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEERS AND ADULTS, AND INCREASE THEIR EDUCATIONAL ASPIRATIONS AND GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL. SPRING 2020 PROGRAMS INCORPORATED VIRTUAL MENTORING AND CAREER EXPLORATION TO SUSTAIN PROGRAM INVOLVEMENT DURING THE COVID-19 RELATED SCHOOL CLOSURES. OVER 100 HOME VISITS WERE MADE TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL SUPPLIES AND CRITICAL INFORMATION RELATED TO PANDEMIC PREPAREDNESS AND EMERGENCY RESOURCES.

GLOBAL SCHOLARS PROVIDES 1-1 MENTORING FOR REFUGEE YOUTH PREPARING FOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUTION AND POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION. GLOBAL SCHOLARS PROVIDES MENTORS WHO ASSIST STUDENTS AS THEY EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEIR FUTURE AND DEVELOP THE EMPLOYMENT AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS NECESSARY TO ATTAIN HIGHER EDUCATION AND GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT. CASE MANAGERS GUIDE YOUTH, IMPARTING KNOWLEDGE ON COMPLETING APPLICATIONS FOR HIGHER EDUATION AND TRAINING, INTERVIEWING FOR JOBS AND BUILDING A RESUME. 1-1 MENTORING BUILDS ACADEMIC ASPIRATION AND PARTICPANTS' UNDERSTANGING OF THEIR POST-HIGH SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES. IN THE LONG TERM, STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL WITH PLANS TO ATTEND HIGHER EDUCATION OR TRAINING. GLOBAL SCHOLARS MENTORSHIP MOVED ONLINE DURING SPRING 2020, TO ENSURE SOCIAL DISTANCING AS STUDENTS WORKED TOWARDS THEIR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS. VIRTUAL MENTORING WILL CONTINUE AS NEEDED,IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES.
