Organizations Filed Purposes: Repairing Homes. Revitalizing Communities. Rebuilding Lives.

Rebuilding Together Houston repairs the homes of low-income seniors, U.S. Veterans, people with disabilities, and families impacted by natural disasters to support our under-served neighbors and help maintain affordable housing throughout the region.

Home After Harvey: Homes impacted by Hurricane Harvey are restored by licensed contractors. Homes are repaired to a safe and livable condition. Industrial Hygienists inspect homes, adding details for mold remediation to the scopes of work. Contractors then execute the scope of work, possibly including structural repairs, repair or replacement of the roof, mold removal, electrical and plumbing repairs, replacing flooring, sheet rock replacement, and sealing the exterior of the home. Volunteers provide safety upgrades, and exterior work including scraping, caulking, painting, and ramps. This program completed 184 homes with a donated volunteer labor value of $539,400 in 2019.

Critical Systems Repair (CSR) & Roof Restoration (RR): Licensed contractors complete structural repairs, roof repair and replacement, and electrical and plumbing repairs. These repairs were funded by the City of Houston, Texas Veterans Administration and Harris County Housing Finance. In 2019, contractors completed 334 CSR repairs and 157 Roof repairs in this program.

Volunteer Programs: The Volunteer Home Repair program works with teams of 25-30 volunteers to seal the envelope of the home: scraping, caulking, and painting exterior walls; repairing siding and fascia; and securing doors and windows over about two days. The Safe and Sound Services program works with pairs of volunteers installing grab bars, steps and handrails, smoke and CO detectors, fire extinguishers, safety aids and air filtration systems. The Ramp Angels work with skilled volunteers who construct durable wheelchair ramps improving homeowner mobility and independence of the homeowner. In 2019, these programs completed 74 homes, with a donated volunteer labor value of $390,600.
