To advance the professional and common business interests of career-focused romance writers through networking and advocacy.
Romance Writers of America (RWA) advances the profession of romance writing by publishing a monthly magazine, sponsoring industry awards, sponsoring an annual conference for networking and education, and advocating for fair business practices for romance writers.
Annual conference: The purpose of the Conference is to educate, inform, and disseminate information to career-focused romance writers. Provide a vehicle for members to network with each other. Provide a forum for members to interact with editors, agents, publishers, booksellers, and other romance publishing industry professionals. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 conference was held virtually.
RWR: The Romance Writers Report advances the professional interests of career-focused romance writers through a print and online magazine that educates and informs the members of Romance Writers of America. Information in the RWR includes but is not limited to editorials, features about writing, in-depth coverage of industry news, survey results, policy articles, regular columns, and advertising.
Industry Promotion/Membership Support Services: RWA's members help to promote a positive and professional image of romance writers and their works and romance fiction as a whole. Members have access to up-to-date industry news related to agents and publishers and popular fiction trends. Members suffering financial difficulties can apply to the Perseverance Fund for a free year of dues or to the Kate Duffy Fund for conference scholarships.
