TWEF is geared toward mentoring families, from all walks of life; helping them to reach their fullest potential in the areas of personal development, business, education, finances, and socio-economic development.
TWEF sprang into action to provide services focused on rebuilding, restoring and strengthening the post-Harvey community; with specific concentration on the most vulnerable populations such as the elderly, youth, and low income. TWEF provided a youth trauma recovery program and empowered the elderly with post-Harvey disaster preparedness and actions steps they needed to cope, recover and enhance resiliency. With the launch of these programs, TWEF provided over 10,000 individuals in Harris County with the tools they needed to keep going. TWEF hosts powerful leadership meetings, seminars, and events to enhance the professional development of families. The Women & Money Mentoring series seeks to facilitate enrichment workshops as a mechanism of prevention, intervention, empowerment, mentorship and academic & social preparation among young girls and boys. The series includes a Womens Empowerment Panel with women from the business and local community who share their thoughts on the importance of having mentors, balancing life and reaching financing goals. As a continued service, monthly life coaching and mentorship meetings are held. This program has served over 5,450 families annually with a focus on families devastated by Hurricane Harvey. TWEF followed the same strategic plan for growth by launching a male component of the organization. The male component called M.E.N. (Mentoring, Educating, and Networking) got off to a great start. Empowerment Training Institute offers career readiness training, money management, personal development and business development training in a dynamic and professional learning environment designed to prepare individuals for success in a diverse and expanding global job market. Parenting courses are an essential part of ETI. Available to ETI attendees is the Technology Center, a state of the art facility offering training in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications, foreign language, money management applications plus internet search engine literacy, and social media training which are all aimed at college and career readiness and development of marketable skills. ETI also provides health and fitness classes each month. The ETI served over 10,000 individuals and families in 2018 with counseling and awareness sessions dedicated to Hurricane Harvey survivors. Donated facilities not included in program service expense was $11,940.00.
