Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of The Real Life Real Music Foundation is to build and promote the values taught by Jesus Christ in the secular world and media by providing life development resources and mentoring programs to musical artist and their communities, funding musical artistic endeavors, and providing musical education in local communities.
The Foster EPProduced and released "The Foster EP", a musical project designed to raise awareness and funds directed towards foster children in the State of Texas. The project consists of 4 songs written specifically about the experience of being a child, or parent, in the foster care system.
Foster Care Awareness Appearances & ResourcesIn addition to 5 awareness/fundraising appearances, we produced and/or participated in 11 additional foster care awareness events. Video resources to be utilized to further awareness, both at events and independent of events online, were developed. Events included the first "A Place to Stay" event held at LifeAustin Amphitheater in Austin, TX. This community wide event featured the music from The Foster EP, speakers including The First Lady of Texas - Cecilia Abbott and The Commissioner of the Department of Family and Protective Services - Hank Whitman. The event allowed over 300 attendees to meet with local foster care non-profits, state agencies, and child placement agencies. In subsequent meetings with the Governors senior advisors, the First Lady of Texas, and key individuals from The Department of Family and Protective Services we began the planning of a 12 city tour to begin in 2018 focused on the areas of the state with the most children in foster care and available for adoption. In total during 2017 we were able to encourage over 4,000 event attendees to make a difference in the lives of foster children in the state of Texas. Expenses below include a total of $14,750 donated to a number of the charities involved in these events. The number also includes $26,919.10 in dollars spent on fundraising events.
Faith in the Water Hurricane ReliefIn September after Hurricane Harvey devastated the Texas coast we funded the production and release of "Faith in the Water" by The Texas Red Dirt Choir to raise funds and morale. This "We Are the World" type effort featured 25 of the top independent Texas country artists. 100% of the donations and streaming / online revenues are being donated to The Bowen Family Foundation and The Rebuild Texas fund (One Star Foundation). While some donations are reported in 2017, the streaming royalties began in 2018. Hundreds of thousands have interacted with the song through social media. We were able to contribute $6,000 to the charities listed above from the song in 2017.
