Ballroom Marfa presented 9 visual art, film and music programs for FY 2019, including 4 major visual art exhibitions, 2 film screenings, an annual music festival, and an international film program. Workshops included: a field workshop and discussion on grassland birds with local ornithologists; a hike through The Nature Conservancy's David Mountain Preserve with a local ecologist, and soil tasting workshop with local soil experts. Other workshops instructed participants on: astronomy, astrophysics and the McDonald Observatory Dark Skies Initiative; how to speak and write in Nahuatl, a widely spoken indigenous language prominent in Mexico and Central America, and botanical collage.
