IN 2019, THE GEORGE W. BUSH CHILDHOOD HOME WELCOMED OVER 6800 VISITORS, EXPANDED OUR LAURA BUSH LITERACY PROGRAM, AND FOR THE FIRST TIME HIRED AN EDUCATION AND PROGRAMS COORDINATOR. WE HOSTED OUR SECOND ANNUAL BIG BAND BASH FUNDRAISER. IN MARCH, WE HELD A SPECIAL THIRD THURSDAY READING EVENT CELEBRATING WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY IN WHICH WE FEATURED NEW DALLAS AUTHOR JORDAN BURK FOR A SPECIAL READING AND BOOK SIGNING OF "KELLY AND THE GREAT PINEWOOD DERBY," A BOOK ABOUT HIS UNCLE KELLY BURK, WHO WAS BORN WITH DOWN SYNDROME. THE AUTHOR AND THIS EVENT WERE RECOGNIZED BY LOCAL MEDIA AND A NUMBER OF OTHER ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY WHICH WERE ALSO HOSTING WORLD DOWN SYNDROME EVENTS. ADDITIONALLY, OUR ORGANIZATION HELD A "WEST TEXAS HISTORY CAMP" FOR THE FIRST TIME, A ONE-WEEK DAY CAMP FOR 1ST-6TH GRADERS DESIGNED TO INTRODUCE YOUNG STUDENTS TO HISTORICAL EVENTS IN TEXAS AND USA.
