Organizations Filed Purposes:
GETCAP provides a variety of services that advance the self-sufficiency and general well-being of low-income East Texas households, through private and public partnerships.
Energy and Weatherization Assistance-Provides low income families with help paying utility bills, home weatherization to conserve energy and education to help reduce energy burden. The program weatherized 352 units.Through LIHEAP utility assistance, we paid energy bills for low income clients thereby assisting 6,917 households and 14,488 individuals.
Education-Services provided through Head Start program for childcare, education and support services for children ages 0 to 5. The program assists in the total development of the child through health, nutrition, education and parent involvement. The program served 630 pre-kindergarten age children in its Head Start program and 128 children in its Early Head Start program.
Other Client Assistance-Various programs to provide social services to low income individuals and families. Services provided include a literacy/GED program where students were enrolled to work towards receiving their GED in Project Turn-Around classes. The school supply drive "Supply Our Schools" provided school supplies for low income students in all Nacogdoches County public schools. The RISE program served 87 individuals and transitioned 16 individuals out of poverty.
