Organizations Filed Purposes:
To help children heal from trauma by strengthening their families.
In 2019, Chosen hired two additional full-time staff and increased the hours for two contract staff members. Chosen also created a formal social work intern structure that provided interns consistently throughout the year. This expansion of both paid and in-kind staff allowed Chosen to serve over 800 individuals impacted by child welfare systems.
Chosen created a formal Reunification Program in 2019 with a structure to serve birth families impacted by the child welfare system. This program includes households where children were removed from their biological parents. Intentionality around serving this population includes seeking referrals from the court system and child protective services. Additionally, when Chosen is serving a foster family and the foster children are reunited with birth parents, a continuum of care occurs when the child is followed. The continuum of care creates consistency with a trauma-informed approach to helping children heal from abuse, neglect, grief and loss. It also decreases recidivism after reunification.
In the third full year of helping children heal from trauma by strengthening their families, Chosen expanded training capabilities both internally and externally. Chosen grew their TBRI Practitioner total staff to five and Trauma Competent Caregiver Affiliate Trainers to a total of two in 2019. Two staff also became certified in a counseling program called Making Sense of Your Worth and four staff members completed Level One Training of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. The expansion in certifications and training allowed Chosen to better serve clients with a deeper level of therapeutic resources. Externally, Chosen received recognition as an industry leader and was asked to train social workers and clinicians at a national conference, as well as at several state-wide events.
