BACODA'S MISSION IS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS,FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITIES STOP ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE AND ADDICTION.THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT, EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
BACODA'S YOUTHWORKS PROGRAMS PROVIDE PREVENTION EDUCATION UTILIZING THE SAMSHA APPROVED, EVIDENCE-BASED, INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED CURRICULUM "POSITIVE ACTION." YOUTHWORKS' PREVENTION SPECIALISTS FACILITATE THE CHARACTER -BUILDING CURRICULUM TO "AT-RISK" YOUTH IN A GROUP SETTING ON SELECTED SCHOOL CAMPUSES AND COMMUNITY SITES ACROSS SOUTHEAST HARRIS, GALVESTON, BRAZORIA, AND MATAGORDA COUNTIES. POSITIVE ACTION IS BASED ON THE INTUITIVE PHILOSOPHY THAT WE FEEL GOOD ABOUT OURSELVES WHEN WE DO POSITIVE ACTIONS. ADDITIONALLY, THE YOUTHWORKS PROGRAM PROVIDES PRESENTATIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES WITH PREVENTION MESSAGES THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE.
BACODA'S COALITION DEPARTMENT IS A GROUP OF STRATEGIC COLLABORATIVE PROGRAMS THAT IMPLEMENT COMMUNITY-LEVEL PREVENTION ACTIVITIES TO AFFECT POSITIVE CHANGES IN TARGETED COMMUNITIES. A COALITION OR A COALITION'S TASK FORCE IS A GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS WITH A COMMON INTEREST THAT AGREE TO WORK TOGETHER TOWARD A COMMON GOAL. BACODA PROVIDES COORDINATION, LEADERSHIP, AND ADMINISTRATION FOR FIVE COMMUNITY COALITIONS AND A TOBACCO TASK FORCE THAT SERVES A TOTAL OF FOUR COUNTY COALITIONS AND ON CITY COALITION ALONG THE TEXAS GULF COAST. THESE PROGRAMS EXIST TO SERVE COMMUNITY-WIDE EFFORTS TO PREVENT AND REDUCE THE HARMFUL IMPACT OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, AND OTHER DRUG ABUSE ACROSS A LIFESPAN FROM YOU TO SENIORS. EACH COALITION OR TASK FORCE USES THE NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED CURRICULUM KNOW AS THE STRATEGIC PREVENTION FRAMEWORK (SAMSHA).
LIFE RECOVERY SERVICES OFFERS TELEPHONE SCREENINGS AND REFERRALS, COURT ORDERED EVALUATIONS (ASSESSMENTS AND CLASSES, DRUG/ALCOHOL EVALUATION (ASSESSMENTS) NOT COURT ORDERED, AND COUNSELING. THE GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE WITH ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE SERVICES AND TO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITIES ON THE IMPACT OF ALCOHOL/DRUGS HAS ON THE INDIVIDUALS, THEIR FAMILIES, AND OUR COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE. WE STRIVE TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL AND UP-TO-DATE RESOURCES FOR THE INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR FAMILIES REACHING OUT TO US. ASSESSMENTS /EVALUATIONS ARE AVAILABLE TO DETERMINE SEVERITY OF DRUG/ALCOHOL PROBLEMS USING A RESEARCHED -BASED EVALUATION TOOL FACILITATED BY A LICENSED DRUG/ALCOHOL PROFESSIONAL. REFERRAL RESOURCES AVAILABLE FOR DRUG/ALCOHOL TREATMENT AND SUPPORT SERVICES AS WELL AS OTHER SOCIAL SERVICES AVAILABLE IN OUR COMMUNITY. DURING THESE PANDEMIC TIMES, OUR SERVICES ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY AND OFFERED THROUGH ZOOM. CLASSES AS WELL ARE OFFERED THROUGH ZOOM.
