MY FRIEND'S HOUSE IS AN EMERGENCY SHELTER THAT PROVIDES AROUND-THE-CLOCK RESIDENTIAL CARE AND SERVICES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES FOR KIDS WHO HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THEIR HOME DUE TO ABUSE AND/OR NEGLECT. RHY (RUNAWAY AND HOMELESS YOUTH) ARE ALSO GRANTED SUPPORT THROUGH MY FRIEND'S HOUSE WITH AN AVERAGE STAY OF 21 DAYS, OFTEN REFERRED THROUGH THE JUVENILE COURT SYSTEM, SCHOOL DISTRICTS, OR WORD OF MOUTH.MY FRIEND'S HOUSE SERVES ALL SURROUNDING COUNTIES, AND IS THE ONLY SHELTER OF ITS KIND IN COLLIN COUNTY THAT SPECIALIZES IN KEEPING SIBLING GROUPS TOGETHER, AND PROVIDING SERVICES TO RUNAWAY AND HOMELESS YOUTH WITH A FOCUS ON FAMILY REUNIFICATION. MY FRIEND'S HOUSE SERVED 115 CLIENTS IN 2019.CITY HOUSE PROVIDES YOUNG ADULTS UP TO 24 YEARS OLD WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND SERVICES. TO PREVENT FURTHER HOMELESSNESS, YOUNG ADULTS ARE CONNECTED WITH LOCAL APARTMENT MANAGERS WHO WORK WITH THEIR LIMITED CREDIT AND FINANCIAL HISTORY. SERVICES PROVIDED INCLUDE FINANCIAL TRAINING AND CASE MANAGEMENT.

CITY HOUSE OFFERS COUNSELING SERVICES WITH LICENSED, EXPERIENCED ON-STAFF THERAPISTS, FOCUSED ON PREVENTION OF HOMELESSNESS FOR AT-RISK YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES. THERAPISTS WORK WITH THOSE IN THE COMMUNITY AS WELL AS ALL CITY HOUSE RESIDENTIAL CLIENTS FOCUSING ON ISSUES SUCH AS: THREATS OF RUNNING AWAY, AT-RISK BEHAVIORS, FAMILY DYNAMICS & RELATIONSHIP CONFLICT, SCHOOL-BASED CONCERNS, SELF-IMAGE, AND IDENTITY ISSUES AND ACCEPTANCE.CITY HOUSE OPERATES A YOUTH RESOURCE CENTER FOR AT-RISK YOUNG ADULTS UP TO 21 YEARS IN A HIGHLY ACCESSIBLE LOCATION, WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF A DART STATION AND BUS STOP. THE YOUTH RESOURCE CENTER OFFERS: FOOD/SNACKS/CLOTHING/TOILETRIES, TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE, CRISIS CONSULTATION (IN PERSON & VIA PHONE), ACCESS TO COMPUTERS AND A RESOURCE & REFERENCE LIBRARY, RESOURCE REFERRALS & CASE MANAGEMENT, EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE, JOB TRAINING & MONEY MANAGEMENT, LIFE SKILLS, AND COUNSELING.THESE OUTREACH PROGRAMS SERVED 160 CLIENTS DURING 2019.

CITY HOUSE'S TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAM (TLP) IS DESIGNED TO TRANSFORM THE LIVES OF HOMELESS YOUNG ADULTS, AGES 18 TO 21, FOCUSING ON HELPING THEM GROW AND LEARN TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY. THESE YOUNG ADULTS ARE ASPIRING INDIVIDUALS, OFTEN COMING FROM A HOME WITH UNRESOLVED FAMILY CONFLICT, HAVING AGED OUT OF FOSTER CARE, OR ARE VICTIMS OF ABUSE, NEGLECT, OR HOMELESSNESS.OUR OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE THESE YOUNG PEOPLE WITH THE SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE TO BE SELF-SUFFICIENT, AND LIVE INDEPENDENTLY AS CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF THEIR COMMUNITY. TLP SERVED 75 CLIENTS IN 2019.
