DOMESTIC VIOLENCE EMERGENCY SHELTERS - TEXAS MUSLIM WOMEN'S FOUNDATION, INC. PROVIDES EMERGENCY SHELTERS TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, ESPECIALLY WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN WHO NEED SAFE AND CONFIDENTIAL SHELTER FROM DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.CLIENTS FROM THROUGHOUT THE DALLAS-FORT WORTH METROPLEX MAY RESIDE AT ONE OF TWO SHELTERS FOR UP TO 90 DAYS. DURING 2019, THE FOUNDATION SERVED 95 CLIENTS AT BOTH SHELTERS.
Domestic Violence Education, Client outreach and Non-Residential Social Services Texas Muslim Womens Foundation, Inc. provides culturally specific services to survivors of domestic violence (DV), sexual assault, and dating violence. This includes safety planning, case management, consultation and representation for immigration and/or family law, financial well-being assistance, and other social service assistance. The foundation also collaborates with community partners to build awareness and educate members on domestic violence, and highlight culturally specific issues. During 2019, the foundation provided 29 DV awareness and prevention forums to 434 individuals and 22 informative booths with a potential outreach of approx. 2,362 individuals. In addition, as of October 2018, the agency expanded outreach services to the Refugee community by providing 79 refugee specific Life Skills classes to 15 participants, as well as 1619 consultation services and 1329 hotline calls to DV and Non-DV clients.
TRANSITIONAL HOUSING - TEXAS MUSLIM WOMEN'S FOUNDATION, INC. PROVIDES TRANSITIONAL HOUSING TO WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN FROM THROUGHOUT THE DALLAS-FORT WORTH METROPLEX WHO ARE VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. DURING 2019, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED TRANSITIONAL HOUSING TO 81 CLIENTS STAYING IN 18 APARTMENTS LEASED BY THE FOUNDATION AND PROVIDED RENT-FREE TO THE CLIENTS WHO MAY RESIDE IN THE HOUSING FOR 3 TO 24 MONTHS. ADDITIONALLY, THE ORGANIZATION IMPLEMENTS A RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAM IN WHICH TMWF PROVIDES SHORT TERM RENTAL ASSISTANCE AND SERVICES FOR 14 CLIENTS TO HELP THEM FIND PERMANENT HOUSING AND INCREASE THEIR SELF-SUFFICIENCY.
