Chartered in 1979, Avenida Guadalupe Association AGA began a process of transforming slum conditions in the Avenida Guadalupe neighborhood, first acquiring and demolishing a concentration of 40 blighted corrales including relocation for the construction of the UDAG funded Plaza Guadalupe in 1984 in partnership with the San Antonio Development Agency, which also included facilitating the City acquisition of historic Guadalupe Theater and executing its 1,000,000 restoration. In that, AGA executed the restoration of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Shrines exterior facade. Further developments include constructing El Parian neighborhood business center in 1991, preservation of El Progreso Theater in 1996, construction of Las Oficinas in 2004, and La Promesa Building in 2013.
