Foster Family Services is a community-based program where professionally trained Foster Parents provide care and support to children of all ages, infancy through adolescents. Foster Parents help meet the behavioral, emotional, and educational needs of the children in their care. Service intensity ranges from highly intensive to less intensive, based upon the needs of the child. With a focus on reunification, Foster Family Services utilize a strength-based, team approach to work with families to achieve safety, permanency, and well-being. Foster Parents receive 24/7 support from Boys Town professionals.
Common Sense Parenting CSP is a practical, skill-based program that provides easy-to-learn techniques to help parents, teachers, grandparents, care takers, and others, with parenting challenges like communication, discipline, decision-making, relationships, and school success. Classes incorporate proven methods that were researched and developed at Boys Town. Typically offered as two-hour sessions, classes are conducted once per week over multiple weeks, based on the age of the child. Toddler and preschooler sessions last seven weeks while classes for children from 6-16, last six weeks. Classes are offered in English and Spanish. CSP offers training for parents and others who want to build on their existing skills or learn new ways of dealing with childrens behaviors. CSP components involve instruction, videotape modeling, role playing, feedback, and review opportunities. Professional parent trainers teach the course and provide instruction, consultation, and support for participants.
In-Home Family Services has trained family consultants work with families that are struggling to stay together or are in danger of having a child removed from the home. No matter what the underlying cause - economic hardship, substance abuse, marital issues, family conflicts, health challenges, or others - the goal is to keep children in the home, or to reunify them with their family if they have been removed from their home. Consultants work right in the parents home, helping them to improve parenting skills, create a safe, nurturing home for children, and use resources in the community to solve problems on their own. Consultants are on call 24/7 to provide support and assistance.
