Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of the Caring for Children Foundation of Texas is to provide access to immunizations for uninsured and medically underserved Texas children, as well as providing targeted preventive and health education services.
THE CARING FOUNDATION'S CARE VAN PROGRAM PROVIDED ACCESS TO IMMUNIZATION SCREENING AND A FULL RANGEOF AGE APPROPRIATE IMMUNIZATIONS FOR MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS, PRIMARILY BIRTH TO AGE 18 and their families IN TEXAS. OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR THE FOUNDATION HELD 259 IMMUNIZATION EVENTS through the Care Van program. DURING THESE EVENTS, 23,261 CHILDREN were screened AND 27,692 IMMUNIZATIONS. THE FOUNDATION also COLLABORATED WITH THE SAN ANTONIO METROPOLITAN HEALTH DEPARTMENT OF DENTAL SERVICES, THE FAMILY HEALTH CENTER OF WACO and the State of Texas Oral Health Region to 32,866 DENTAL care including screenings, fluoride treatments, and sealants. In addition, through partnership with The National Kidney Foundation, we provided CKD screenings to 2465 adults. The Care Van also administered 5179 vision and hearing screenings in the Houston area. THE CARING FOUNDATION PROVIDED HEALTH, NUTRITION, AND EXERCISE EDUCATION, AS WELL AS OTHER HEALTH RELATED SERVICES BY COLLABORATING WITH OTHER HEALTH RELATED ORGANIZATIONS AT COMMUNITY, REGIONAL OR STATEWIDE EVENTS. By partnering with the City of El Paso and our other partners, we educated 21,569 individuals on health related issues such as diabetes, hygiene and other medical issues.
