TO PROMOTE MUSIC EDUCATION, PERFORMANCE AND DANCE THROUGH CHOREOGRAPHED PERFORMANCES.
THE CROSSMEN DRUM CORPS IS A PROGRAM THAT ASSISTS YOUNG PEOPLE ON THE PATH TO BECOMING WONDERFUL HUMAN BEINGS THROUGH THE PARTICIPATION IN THE ARTS. THE CROSSMEN PROVIDE MUSIC EDUATION AND ALSO LIFE-LESSONS FOR THEIR ALUMNI TO CARRY WITH THEM INTO THEIR FUTURE LIVES AS ADULTS. STUDENTS LEARN IMPORTANT LIFE SKILLS INCLUDING LEADERSHIP, GOAL SETTING, AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION. THE DRUM CORPS INCLUDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO EXERCISE THEIR POTENTIAL NOT ONLY AS MUSICIANS, BUT AS COMPLETE HUMAN BEINGS. THERE ARE 160 MEMBERS WHO PARTICIPATE IN THE DRUM CORPS. THE CROSSMEN HOLD EXPERIENCE CAMPS IN THE EARLY FALL EACH YEAR WHERE APPROXIMATELY 933 STUDENTS RANGING FROM THE AGES OF 14-21 COME TOGETHER TO LEARN WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE A MEMBER OF A WORLD CLASS DRUM CORPS AND AUDITION FOR A SPOT IF THEY SO CHOOSE. THEY SPEND A WEEKEND OF INSTRUCTION WITH OUR PROFESSIONAL STAFF WITH LESSONS IN BOTH MUSIC AND VISUAL SKILLS. THE CROSSMEN HOST AN EXPERIENCE DAY EACH JUNE WHERE 150 OR MORE YOUNG PEOPLE COME TO INTERACT AND RECEIVE MUSIC EDUCATION FROM BOTH THE MEMBERS OF THE CORPS AS WELL AS PROFESSIONAL STAFF.
