Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO NURTURE THE CREATIVE POTENTIAL OF OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH ART-MAKING THAT ENRICHES, TRANSFORMS, AND CONNECTS. WE ARE A NON-PROFIT 501(C)3. THROUGH WORKSHOPS AND EVENTS, WE HELP CONNECT PARTICIPANTS TO THEIR STRENGTHS, THEIR PEERS, AND THEIR WORLD.
OUR TWO MAIN PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE COMMUNITY WORKSHOP SERIES AND THE ARTREACH PROGRAM, WHICH SENDS ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE TO WORK WITH COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT BEXAR COUNTY. THE COMMUNITY WORKSHOP SERIES OFFERS MONTHLY CLASSES TO THE GENERAL COMMUNITY AT A REASONABLE COST. CLASSES VARY EACH SEASON. HOWEVER, POPULAR COURSES INCLUDE WELDING, CERAMICS, DRAWING, WATERCOLOR, PAINTING, SENIOR PAINTING, BASKETWEAVING, AND AFTER SCHOOL ARTS AND YOUTH CAMPS FOR CHILDREN AGES 6-17.THE ARTREACH PROGRAM SENDS ARTISTS TO COMMUNITY CENTERS, HOSPITALS, SCHOOLS, AND REHABILITATION FACILITIES THROUGHOUT BEXAR COUNTY. IN 2019, INSPIRE HELD RESIDENCIES AND OUTREACH AT THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: THE IMMIGRANT IMPACT PROJECT, EVA'S HEROES, ALPHA HOME, HEMISFAIR PARK, SAM HOUSTON HIGH SCHOOL, THE PHYLLIS WHEATLEY SENIOR HOMES, NORTHWOOD PRESBYTERIAN DAY SCHOOL, SHEPHARD MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND SELENA HOME.INSPIRE IS PROUD TO HAVE REGISTRANTS IN THIS SERIES WHO RETURN. ONE HAS PARTICIPATED FOR 15 YEARS. THE MAJORITY OF INSPIRE'S SENIOR PAINTING CLASS HAS PARTICIPATED FOR MORE THAN FIVE YEARS. AS WELL, THE YOUTH ART CLASS HAS PARTICIPANTS WHO HAVE BEEN ATTENDING FOR TWO YEARS. THIS SPEAKS TO THE HIGH QUALITY OF INSTRUCTION, BUT ALSO TO INSPIRE'S DEDICATION TO THE PROCESS OF LEARNING, AND TO THE PROCESS OF BUILDING COMMUNITY THROUGH ART. IN 2019, INSPIRE COMMUNITY FINE ART CENTER ALSO HOSTED THE FOLLOWING SIGNATURE EVENTS THAT CELEBRATE LOCAL ARTISTS AND BRINGS OUR COMMUNITY TOGETHER: IN APRIL, INSPIRE HOSTS A FESTIVAL-LIKE EVENT, HIGHLIGHTING STUDENTS AND ARTISTS FROM WELDING, SCULPTURE, CERAMICS, AND WOODWORKING. IN SEPTEMBER, WE HOST OUR ANNUAL JURIED ART SHOW, THIS EVENT, HELD AT A LOCAL HOTSPOT, SHOWCASES THE ARTWORK OF MORE THAN 25 ARTISTS, WHO COMPETE FOR A $1,000 JUROR PRIZE. ATTENDEES ENJOY A CATERED MEAL, AND PARTICIPATE IN AN AUCTION, AND A RAFFLE. AND OF COURSE, THEY MAY PURCHASE SOME OF THE BEST ARTWORK IN SAN ANTONIO. IN DECEMBER, INSPIRE CELEBRATES THE SEASON WITH A HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR, HOSTING VENDORS THROUGHOUT THE REGION WHO PROVIDE LOW-COST HAND CRAFTED GIFTS FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY TO PURCHASE.
