TO CONNECT, SUPPORT, AND MOBILIZE EDUCATORS.THE NATIONAL NETWORK OF STATE TEACHERS OF THE YEAR ("NNSTOY") COORDINATES AND SUPPORTS A RANGE OF GRANT PROGRAMS SO THE EDUCATORS CAN ADVOCATE FOR THE ISSUES AND PRACTICES THAT PROVIDE ALL STUDENTS WITH EXCEPTIONAL AND EQUITABLE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES. NNSTOY, AN ORGANIZATION OF TEACHER LEADERS, SEEKS TO TRANSFORM THE TEACHING PROFESSION BY USING OUR CREDIBLE VOICE TO SUPPORT POLICIES AND PRACTICES THAT ADVANCE TEACHER LEADERSHIP, EDUCATOR EFFECTIVENESS, AND THE CONDITIONS, CAPACITY, AND CULTURE NECESSARY TO SUPPORT GREAT TEACHING AND LEARNING FOR ALL STUDENTS.
THE NATIONAL NETWORK OF STATE TEACHERS OF THE YEAR ("NNSTOY") HOSTS THE THE NATIONAL TEACHER LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE, WHICH IS AN ANNUAL IN-PERSON CONFERENCE. THE PROGRAM IS THE ONLY IN-PERSON MEMBERSHIP CONVENING AND IT PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR EDUCATORS. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: KEYNOTE SESSIONS, BREAKOUT SESSIONS, FOCUS GROUPS, AND SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES.
NNSTOY PROVIDES LEADERSHIP AND MENTORING TO IMPROVE TEACHING IN THE AREAS OF STEM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS) THROUGH TWO GRANTORS: 100K IN 10 AND VOYA. NNSTOY'S 100KIN10 GRANT SUPPORTS A RESEARCH TEAM AND TEACHER LEADER FELLOWS IN THE RESPONSE TO THE FOUR SUBJECTS 1)EXEMPLARY SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH (STEM) LEARNING; 2)CONDITIONS SUPPORT EXEMPLARY STEM LEARNING; 3)THE COLLECTIVE LEADERSHIP OF TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS FACILITATE EXEMPLARY STEM LEARNING; AND 4)THE BARRIERS TO EXEMPLARY STEM LEARNING. THE FINDINGS WERE COMPILED INTO A RESEARCH REPORT AND EXEMPLARY STEM TEACHING TOOLKIT FOR OTHER EDUCATORS AND ADMINISTRATORS TO USE. NNSTOY'S VOYA GRANT PROVIDE 1)LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AND MENTORSHIP FOR FELLOWS TO PRODUCE HIGH-QUALITY, ONLINE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING RELATED TO OUTSTANDING STEM TEACHING; 2)A WEBINAR SERIES ON ROCK STAR STEM TEACHING; AND 3)A TWITTER CHAT SERIES ON ROCK STAR STEM TEACHING.
THE EMPATICO FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM IS THE "PROJECT-BASED PARTNERS" PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDES INFORMATION AND FEEDBACK ON WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TWO CLASSROOMS USE EMPATICO AND THE PROJECT-BASED CURRICULUM PILOT TO ENGAGE IN SERVICE LEARNING PROJECTS.
