OUR STANDARD OF CARE IS TRAUMA-INFORMED AND FRAMED BY COMPASSION, INCLUSIVITY, AND RESPECT, CONDUCTED IN WAYS THAT ARE BOTH COLLABORATIVE AND FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE.

TO PROVIDE FREE DENTAL CARE TO LOW INCOME AND HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS IN BEXAR COUNTY.

THE CLINIC HAS OPERATED THE PATIENT CARE PROGRAM SINCE 1986 SERVING THE AREA'S MOST VULNERABLE ADULTS AND AN INCREASING FOCUS ON PATIENTS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS IN THE LAST THEN YEARS. TO OUR KNOWLEDGE, WE ARE THE ONLY BEXAR COUNTY CLINIC EXCLUSIVELY SERVING LOW-INCOME AND HOMELESS ADULTS WHERE COMPREHENSIVE,PREVENTATIVE,PRIMARY, EPISODIC, AND RESTORATIVE DENTAL CARE SERVICES ARE DELIVERED FREE OF CHARGE TO PATIENTS. THE PATIENT CARE PROGRAM OFFERS A COMPLETE SCOPE OF ORAL HEALTH TREATMENTS RANGING FROM PRIMARY TO SPECIALTY CARE FOR PEOPLE WHO NORMALLY HAVE FEW CHOICES FOR THEIR ORAL HEALTH. OUR STANDARD OF CARE IS TRAUMA-INFORMED SINCE MOST OF OUR PATIENTS ARE EXPERIENCING TRAUMA ASSOCIATED WITH HOMELESSNESS AND CHRONIC POVERTY INCLUDING FOOD INSECURITY,PROLONGED HEALTH CONCERNS, ANXIETY, ABANDONMENT, ABUSE, NEGLECT, AND COMPROMISED MENTAL HEALTH. IN 2019, SA CHRISTIAN DENTAL CLINIC PATIENTS RECEIVED SERVICES VALUED AT 4.5 MILLION DOLLARS, COMPARED TO 3.2 MILLION DOLLARS IN THE PRIOR YEAR WITH NO CHANGE IN THE BASIS FOR FEES. THIS GROWTH TOOK PLACE IN A YEAR WHEN PATIENT VISITS DECLINED SLIGHTLY (4%) LEADING US TO CONCLUDE A MODEL ENHANCED BY A SINGLE SALARIED CLINICIAN ENABLES THE DELIVERY OF MORE COMPLEX PROCEDURES OVER THE COURSE OF FEWER VISITS.

SA CHRISTIAN DENTAL CLINIC'S PRIMARY PROGRAM IS SUPPLEMENTED BY A DENTAL ASSISTANT JOB TRAINING PROGRAM TO OFFER LOW-INCOME AND HOMELESS ADULTS WHO LACK PERSONAL RESOURCES FOR ADVANCED EDUCATION. THE SECONDARY PROGRAM SUPPORTS PATIENT CARE BY OFFERING SUPERVISED CLINICAL CARE WHILE PROVIDING BUDGET RELIEF. FOR PARTICIPANTS, THE PROGRAM DELIVERS ENTRY LEVEL TRAINING IN THE DENTAL HEALTH FIELD AT NO COST TO PARTICIPANTS. THE PROGRAM IS COMPETITIVE AND BOASTS A 100% PASS RATE ON CERTIFICATION EXAMINATIONS FOR THOSE WHO COMPLETE THE COURSEWORK.
