The mission of the Shelby Kennedy Foundation is to help families strengthen their personal relationship with the Lord and dynamically impact the world as ambassadors of Jesus Christ.
Family discipleship through bible study, scripture memorization, prayer and competition.
Local Bible Bee contests were held in August 2019, supported by 175 local hosts, 5,279 competitors (children and youth from the ages of 7 to 18) demonstrated their learning of the bible in the form of both memorized bible verses and knowledge of bible facts. Winners were determined by a written test online.
Shelby Kennedy Foundation, Inc. hosted and executed the National Bible Bee Contest held in Covington, Kentucky, where over 370 children and youth ages 7 to 18 were invited from the local contests to participate in this national event. The event was held November 18-21, 2019. The event was attended by over 200 families of the contestants as well as over 1,500 attendees. The competitors were drawn from each of the three age groups: primary (ages 7-10), junior (ages 11-14), and senior (ages 15-18). The contestants competed for prize money with their knowledge of the Bible, both in memorized bible verses and bible facts. Electronic and oral testing dtermined multiple winners in these categories. At the end of the National Bible Bee Competition, prized totaling over $138,500 in the form of cash and/or scholarships were awarded to the top five competitors in each age group.
The Foundation produced and previously aired the Bible Bee Game as a television production, an epidodic series showcasing scripturememorization in a "Jeopardy"-type game show format. The show is stillavailable for viewing and royalties and monthly licensing fees are being received but the show is no longer being produced. Expenses incurred in 2019 are primarily the amortization of production costs.
