Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Texas Water Mission supports communities in need by providing safe drinking water and hygiene solutions.
Navajo Reservation Program: In May we installed our first water system on the Navajo Reservation. This water system consists of a 7,500-gallon cistern and solar pump to provide clean water to the St. John's Church and Community Center located in Montezuma Creek, Utah and included water hauling supplies so the community could efficiently get water into the cistern. In an emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we began partnering with Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health and the Utah Navajo Health System to provide handwashing stations with all the necessary components and wellness-boxes that (Continued on Page 13) consist of about $75 worth of supplies in each. In total we distributed around 65 handwashing stations and 65 wellness-boxes to residents in the Montezuma Creek, UT and Oljato, UT areas.
Haiti Program: Construction began on a complete water system in Mombin Crochu, Haiti in 2020. This water system consists of a rainwater catchment system, solar pump, reservoir, and water treatment system. This project was at about 80% complete by the end of the year. The construction work is being done by CHAL, a Haitian contractor, and is being monitored by the US-based non-profit Water Mission.
Honduras Program: We installed a new solar box at our well in the community of San Lorenzo, Honduras due to an electrical failure caused by exposure to outside elements. This was fixed, and the community now has running water. Due to strict lockdown measures in Honduras, other program efforts were postponed.
