We are a children's charity dedicated to improving literacy in the second grade in Title 1 schools in the Greater Houston area. We give young students the opportunity to earn a bicycle and helmet for achieving their set goals.

CYCLE is a children's charity committed to improving literacy among children in the second grade in Title 1 schools of the Greater Houston area. We do this by rewarding students with brand-new bicycles and helmets after they achieve defined academic goals, teaching the important lesson that hard work and dedication really do pay off. We believe this places children on the path to a brighter future. As soon as the wheels start turning, impressive things happen!The overarching goal of CYCLE is to see every student in the Greater Houston area achieve grade-level reading or above by the end of the third grade, putting them on the path to success and empowering them to reach their full potential in school and life. Research has shown that achieving grade-level literacy by fourth grade is a key determinant of future academic success.Bicycles to date: During 2019, CYCLE awarded more than 5,224 new bicycles and helmets to at-risk children, bringing its cumulative total of bicycles and helmets to 172,162 bicycles since the program's inception in 2000. With the help of over 2,500 volunteers in 2019, CYCLE is able to achieve its mission.
