Organizations Filed Purposes: HOME PLACE OF TEXAS IS A NON-DENOMINATIONAL CHRIST-CENTERED COMMUNITY FOR ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES RESIDENTIAL SERVICES (PROGRAM ENDED SEPT 2019), DAY HABILITATION SERVICES, BIBLE STUDY, IMPROVEMENT OF LIFE SKILLS AND JOB SKILLS, AND RECREATION. OUR MISSION IS TO TEACH ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES THAT GOD LOVES THEM AND HAS A PLAN FOR THEM - A PLAN FOR GOOD. OUR GOAL IS THAT PARTICIPANTS WILL COME TO UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE WONDERFULLY MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD. OUR AIM IS FOR PARTICIPANTS TO BECOME MORE INDEPENDENT AND MATURE ADULTS AND GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY WHERE THEY LIVE.

THE DAY PROGRAM BEGAN IN 2008. WE EXPANDED OUR SPACE SUBSTANTIALLY IN 2010 AS THE PROGRAM DOUBLED IN SIZE. THE PROGRAM CONTINUED TO FLOURISH AND, WITH FUNDS OBTAINED FROM A GRANT, OUR FACILITIES WERE EXPANDED SIGNIFICANTLY IN 2012. WE SERVE OVER 200 ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES EACH WEEK. THE PURPOSES OF THE DAY PROGRAM ARE TO CONTINUE LIFE-LONG LEARNING, AND TO LEARN AND PRACTICE WORK AND SOCIAL SKILLS, LEARN TO BE A TEAM MEMBER, TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACTIONS, AND GAIN WORK EXPERIENCE. PARTICIPANTS ARE PROVIDED NUMEROUS OPPORTUNITIES TO VOLUNTEER IN THE COMMUNITY AND DEVELOP WORK SKILLS AND APPROPRIATE WORKPLACE BEHAVIOR UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A JOB COACH. THESE ACTIVITIES TEACH THE ATTRIBUTES NECESSARY TO SUCCESSFULLY WORK IN THE COMMUNITY. WE HIRED A JOB COACH IN 2012 AND A SECOND JOB COACH IN 2013 TO EXPAND OUR OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEERING IN ELDERLY CARE FACILITIES, CHURCHES, AND OTHER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. THESE ACTIVITIES ALLOW OUR PARTICIPANTS TO GAIN MUCH NEEDED EXPERIENCE IN THE WORK PLACE WITH SUPERVISION SO THAT THEIR WORK SKILLS IMPROVE. THEY ALSO LEARN APPROPRIATE WORKPLACE BEHAVIOR. THE RESIDENTIAL SERVICE PROGRAM WAS DISCONTINUED IN SEPTEMBER 2019.

THE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM WAS DISCONTINUED IN SEPTEMBER 2019. RESIDENTIAL LIVING IN SAME-SEX HOMES WITH A CARE PROVIDER IS AVAILABLE. THE PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE RESIDENTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO MATURE AS ADULTS AND LEARN TO LIVE INDEPENDENT LIVES. LIVING INDEPENDENTLY REQUIRES EACH RESIDENT TO LEARN THE NECESSARY LIFE AND SOCIAL SKILLS TO LIVE WITH OTHERS IN A LOVING, RESPECTFUL MANNER. RESIDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE AN ACTIVITY EACH WEEKDAY OUTSIDE THE RESIDENCE. THEY MAY CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION, WORK, VOLUNTEER, OR ATTEND THE DAY PROGRAM DURING THE WEEK. THEY ATTEND WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY. THEY LEARN TO PLAN AND SCHEDULE THEIR ACTIVITIES. RESIDENTS LEARN TO PLAN AND COOK THEIR MEALS, DO THEIR LAUNDRY, KEEP THEIR ROOMS, CLEAN, PLAN AND PARTICIPATE IN RECREATION ACTIVITIES, ETC., UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE RESIDENT SUPERVISOR. RESIDENTS LEARN TO MAKE THEIR APPOINTMENTS FOR DOCTORS, HAIRCUTS, ETC., AND SCHEDULE TRANSPORTATION. THEY LEARN TO SHOP FOR THEIR NEEDS AND TO PLAN THEIR ERRANDS. THEY LEARN MONEY MANAGEMENT. AS ADULT HABITS ARE FORMED FROM LIVING INDEPENDENTLY, RESIDENTS LEARN TO BE RESPONSIBLE ADULTS AND DEMONSTRATE ADULT BEHAVIOR. THEY LEARN TO GIVE BACK TO THEIR COMMUNITY, TO BE GOOD NEIGHBORS, AND TO BE GOOD CITIZENS. TRANSPORTATION TO ALL APPROVED ACTIVITIES IS PROVIDED FOR RESIDENTS. THE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM IS THE PROGRAM WHERE THE MOST INDEPENDENCE AND MATURITY OCCURS. RESIDENTS LEARN TO LIVE ON THEIR OWN WITH APPROPRIATE SUPERVISION.
