Organizations Filed Purposes:
We celebrate that everyone deserves a house of God to call their own and to perceive the voice of God at every gathering. We value the opportunity to question our beliefs and to seek the presence of God in our daily lives. We strive to be an extravagant voice for love and to enrich and serve our wider community
Christian Community: Plymouth United Church provides weekly worship services for the Plymouth community. Weekly book studies were held that supported the church's four voices: Progressive Theology, Social Justice, LGBT Acceptance and Contemplative Spirituality. Programs are available for children and youth. Plymouth seeks to involve the community in making a difference in the wider community. Plymouth volunteers provide services for Slumber Falls, Settegast Heights Apartments and NAM (Northwest Assistance Ministries). For Christmas, 45 children at NAM and 30 children and 5 seniors at Settegast Heights received presents from our church. The church participates in the Walk for Mental Health and opens its facilities to outside groups such as Quaker meetings and Mom's Demand Action. The church expresses its faith to the LGBT community by participating in Pride, as well as hosting a World AIDS Day and TDOR services. Plymouth's Labyrinth is a place for members of the community to practice contemplation. Expenses represent an allocation that is done for our narrative budget in which costs are allocated to the different ministries of the church. Revenue consists of contributions by members and visitors to Plymouth United Church which go to support both the programs and the administration of the church.
Loose Offering: Plymouth United Church has a program of designating a portion of donations for the purpose of making grants to United Church of Christ (UCC) organizations and to other local and national charities selected by the church's Mission and Outreach team. Collections were distributed to 15 organizations affiliated with the United Church of Christ and 37 independent charities. This is one of the ways we work to impact the larger community that we are a part of.
NAM Community Garden: Plymouth United Church uses church land for a community garden. Church members and members of the community are able to adopt a bed and grow produce for their families and for the NAM food pantry. The church donated over 1,057 pounds of fresh produce to NAM. The fund has a budget line item and has established a fund to provide money to meet the expenses of the garden.
