Organizations Filed Purposes: The mission of the Texas STEM Coalition is to work with educators to ultimately prepare all Texas students to thrive in the 21st century global economy by leveraging its extensive network of expertise, partnerships, resources, and experiences to transform teaching and learning, promote the implementation of innovative, research- and standards-based stem practices that align with college and career readiness objectives, and to facilitate its dissemination through an effective state-wide alliance.

With the approval of the Texas Education Agency and the Austin Independent School District, the organization is operating an in-district charter school at Mendez Middle School. The organization has control over budget, curriculum, and personnel decisions. Students in all classes engage in project-based learning, which is hand-on, problem solving activities designed to stiumulate creativity and collaboration. The goals are to engage the students in learning and improve academic performance.

To fulfill the mission of the Texas STEM Coalition, a conference is held every and is open to educators of all grade levels. Exhibitors and sponsors provide STEM educational materials.
