THE FORUM OF LABORATORY ACCREDITATION Each year, TNI sponsors two meetings where scientists, regulators and the general public gather to engage in dialogue about building a national program for the accreditation of environmental testing laboratories and related organiztions. In 2019, the meetings included discussions on emerging contaminants, analysis of nano articles in ambient water, characterization of polyfluoroalkyl substances in the environment, and sensor technologies. Over 800 individuals participated in the 2019 meetings. For the fourteenth year, the summer meeting was combined with the National Environmental Monitoring Conference in cooperation with the US Environmental Protection Agency.
NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORY ACCREDITATION PROGRAM TNI's National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program(NELAP) now has 14 states and 15 Accreditation Bodies(ABs) that accredit over 2000 laboratories in the US and internationally. In 2019, NELAP adopted the 2016 TNI accreditation standard for use within the program.
CONSENSUS STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT In 2019, TNI's consensus standards program made minor revisions to the 2016 standard and began an effort to incorporate ISO/IEC 17025:2017 into the laboratory standard.
