Education & Career Development - This program consists of Jobs for Life, Adult Basic Education Program, computer classes, construction class and financial management counseling. Jobs for Life is an 8-week course that provides job preparedness training for individuals seeking employment. The course helps students complete a resume and gain insight into job areas that fit their skills and interests. The Adult Basic Education Program provides math and reading classes and one-on-one tutoring tailored to a student's educational level to help students gain basic skills in math and reading. Computer Skills for Business is a class taught in a well-equipped computer lab at The Center of Hope. The Financial Management Program has volunteers who meet with clients one-on-one to assist them with creating a budget and gaining insight into wise spending habits. $35,980 of volunteer labor was donated to this program. The number of services received by participants through the Education & Career Development Program was 8,554.
Hope Chest - 6000 square foot resale shop owned and operated by The Center of Hope. The program provides students who have participated in the Education & Career Development Program an opportunity for a six-month paid internship to work in the shop. Qualifying students will gain valuable work experience while continuing to work closely with their job coach at the Center. The store offers gently used clothing for men, women and children, as well as home decor items, furniture and other household goods. On June 24, 2014, the store opened to the community for shopping or making donations. $190 of volunteer services/labor was contributed to the Hope Chest Program.
