Organizations Filed Purposes:
US Speedskating's exempt purpose is to promote speedskating in the United States and succeed athletically at international competitions. US speedskating's mission is to be one of the premier speedskating organizations in the world through excellence in leadership, development and performance. We are primarily focused on training and development of elite athletes for international competition including the Winter Olympic Games.US Speedskating is also responsible for the grassroots development of speedskating. The association supports athlete development camps as well as coaching and officiating educational training across the country. It also funds the production of promotional speedskating materials including training tapes and development materials. US Speedskating is a member of the US Olympic Committee (USOC) and the International Skating Union.
Governance - US Speedskating is composed of a 10 person board of directors that is responsible for planning, direction and policy for the organization. There are typically two in person meetings per year and additional conference calls to conduct US Speedskating business. The board consists of retired athletes, independent members and representatives from membership throughout the United States. US Speedskating governs both short track and long track speedskating.
Sport Development - US Speedskating provides athlete, coach, and official development programs to support the infrastructure of speedskating in the United States. This includes seminars and clinics, training camps, schools, and other such educational offerings.
Athlete development - US Speedskating provides complete training services and support for US National Team athletes. This includes providing the very highest caliber coaches, ice time, training support, and performance enhancements. US Speedskating provides competitive opportunities at world and Olympic championships, world cups, and other international events. These athletes represent the United States and are in pursuit of Olympic medals.
