Our mission is to empower the children of Mali, West Africa by expanding and improving educational opportunities for them within their own villages.
Accessible Schools - Set up partnerships and plans to build two new schools, planned for 2020. Conducted a maintenance survey of each of our schools to identify any needed repairs. Implemented maintenance activities on two older schools to ensure safe, healthy classrooms. Set up system to train school committees on how to conduct basic annual maintenance on their schools.
Education Quality - Supported our 90-plus teachers with peer-to-peer learning opportunities and a five-day professional training to build their classroom skills. Hosted six teacher peer meetings to help teachers learn from and support each other in their skill development. Delivered more than 1,500 school textbooks to classrooms. Provided extra classroom learning tools in science and geography to all 23 partner schools. Continued our successful Girls Project in three pilot villages, supporting 360 girls to ensure they can attend school at to help them build the skills they need to thrive in school and life.
Inspiration Program - Provided scholarships to 41 student graduates in Mali to continue their education at high school, nursing school, agricultural training facilities, and more. Hosted the Make the Case for Caring Essay Contest for U.S. high school students and continued Youth Ambassadors project to engage high school students in Mali Rising's work.
