SALT LAKE VALLEY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SEEKS TO ELIMINATE POVERTY HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS FROM THE WORLD AND TO MAKE DECENT SHELTER A MATTER OF CONSCIENCE AND ACTION. HABITAT INVITES PEOPLE OF ALL BACKGROUNDS, RACES AND RELIGIONS TO BUILD HOUSES TOGETHER IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FAMILIES IN NEED. SALT LAKE VALLEY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SEEKS TO ACCOMPLISH THIS MISSION BY BUILDING DECENT, AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR WORKING FAMILIES IN NEED THAT WILL REVITALIZE OUR COMMUNITY AND ELIMINATE POVERTY HOUSING CONDITIONS BY MAKING CRITICAL HOME REPAIRS THAT THREATEN HEALTH AND SAFETY.
HOME IMPROVEMENT RETAIL OUTLET:IN NOVEMBER 2009, THE ORGANIZATION OPENED A DISCOUNT HOME IMPROVEMENT OUTLET, CALLED THE RESTORE. THE RESTORE SELLS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, AND MOST OF THE STORE'S MERCHANDISE HAS BEEN DONATED BY BUILDING SUPPLY STORES AND BY INDIVIDUALS IN THE COMMUNITY.
VOLUNTEER AND FAMILY PROGRAMS:OUR LONG TERM GOAL IS TO MAKE AFFORDABLE HOUSING A REALITY FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT QUALIFY FOR CONVENTIONAL LOANS. SINCE 1986, THE SALT LAKE VALLEY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HAS BUILT OR REFURBISHED 97 HOMES AND HOUSED 356 INDIVIDUALS. THE POPULATIONS WE SERVE ARE LOW INCOME FAMILIES MAKING JUST 30 TO 60 PERCENT OF THE AREA MEDIAN INCOME. A FAMILY OF FOUR EARNS BETWEEN $26,400.00 AND $52,750.00 PER YEAR BASED ON THE 2020 HUD GUIDELINES.SALT LAKE VALLEY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY ACCOMMODATED OVER 983 VOLUNTEERS LAST FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2020, TOTALING ABOUT 15,353 HOURS. OUR BUILDING SITES AND RESTORE OPERATION HAVE PROVEN TO BE THE PERFECT ARENA FOR INDIVIDUALS, FAITH BASED GROUPS AND CORPORATE ORGANIZATIONS TO PROMOTE A SENSE OF COMMUNITY WORKING SIDE BY SIDE WITH PARTNER FAMILIES.
CRITICAL HOME REPAIR:DURING FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2020 SALT LAKE VALLEY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PERFORMED CRITICAL REPAIRS ON 32 HOMES ASSISTING 85 INDIVIDUALS. THESE REPAIRS CONSISTED OF ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE SUCH AS ROOF REPAIR, RADON AND MOLD MITIGATION, AND ADDRESSING ACCESSIBILITY ISSUES.
