UTAH CLEAN ENERGY'S LEGAL AND TECHNICAL EXPERTS SUCCESSFULLY HELPED TO RETIRE FOUR COAL UNITS EARLY IN ADDITION TO BUILDING 7,000 MW OF RENEWABLE ENERGY THROUGH SUCCESSFUL ADVOCACY IN ROCKY MOUNTAIN POWER'S INTEGRATED RESOURCE PLANNING PROCESS. UTAH CLEAN ENERGY'S EMPOWER SLC PROGRAM BROUGHT ENERGY SAVING TOOLS, EDUCATION, AND RESOURCES TO UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES IN SALT LAKE CITY. THIS PROGRAM HELPED NEARLY 300 FAMILIES SWITCH-OUT OVER 3,000 INEFFICIENT LIGHT BULBS WITH ENERGY-SAVING LEDS RESULTING IN AN ESTIMATED 280 TONS OF CO2 SAVED ANNUALLY AND CLOSE TO 37,000 IN COLLECTIVE UTILITY BILL SAVINGS. UTAH CLEAN ENERGY SPEARHEADS PATH TO POSITIVE UTAH TO DEPOLITICIZE CLIMATE CHANGE AND IMPLEMENT THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE UTAH CLIMATE & CLEAN AIR ROADMAP. IN 2019, WE PARTNERED WITH ZIONS BANK TO HOST A CLIMATE BRIEFING TO OVER 100 OF UTAH'S MOST PROMINENT BUSINESS, FAITH, POLITICAL, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS. THROUGH UTAH CLEAN ENERGY'S TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO LOCAL GOVERNMENTS AND ADVOCACY WITH THE UTAH STATE LEGISLATURE, UTAH BECAME THE FIRST STATE IN THE NATION TO PASS LEGISLATION ALLOWING COMMUNITIES TO GO NET-100% RENEWABLE WITHIN A REGULATED MONOPOLY UTILITY. TWENTY-THREE UTAH COMMUNITIES PASSED RESOLUTIONS TO CONSIDER PARTICIPATING IN THE COMMUNITY RENEWABLE ENERGY PROGRAM. WHEN OREGON PASSED A LAW TO GET OUT OF THEIR COAL FLEET AFTER 2030, UTAH, IDAHO, AND WYOMING WERE SLATED TO RECEIVE OREGON'S SHARE OF COAL. THROUGH HIGH-LEVEL REGULATORY PROCEEDINGS, UTAH CLEAN ENERGY REACHED AN AGREEMENT AS PART OF THE MULTI-STATE PROCESS (MSP) THAT NO ADDITIONAL COAL CAN BE ASSIGNED TO UTAH WITHOUT A ROBUST EVIDENTIARY PROCEEDING, WHICH WILL LAUNCH IN 2020. THROUGH THE UTAH CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK, UTAH CLEAN ENERGY ORGANIZED THE 3RD ANNUAL UTAH CLIMATE WEEK FROM SEPTEMBER 29TH - OCTOBER 5TH, 2019. OVER 60 ORGANIZATIONS PARTICIPATED IN 40 UTAH CLIMATE WEEK EVENTS, SPANNING ACROSS GRAND COUNTY, UTAH COUNTY, SALT LAKE COUNTY, WEBER COUNTY, AND SUMMIT COUNTY. THE 2019 LEGISLATIVE SESSION YIELDED SIGNIFICANT WINS FOR AIR QUALITY. THE UTAH BUDGET INCLUDES ABOUT 28 MILLION IN NEW FUNDING FOR AIR QUALITY PROGRAMS. OF THAT AMOUNT, 1 MILLION IS ALLOCATED TO THE WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AND 7 MILLION TO ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE AT BUSINESS, GOVERNMENT, AND STATE AGENCY LOCATIONS.
