WEB.COM TOUR UTAH CHAMPIONSHIP - THE UTAH SPORTS COMMISSION, AS A 501(C)(3) ENTITY, CONTRACTS DIRECTLY WITH THE PGA TOUR TO ACT AS HOST ORGANIZATION FOR THE WEB.COM TOUR'S UTAH CHAMPIONSHIP, THE ONLY OFFICIAL PGA TOUR EVENT HOSTED IN THE STATE OF UTAH. THE TOURNAMENT GIVES UTAH GOLF FANS THEIR ONLY OPPORTUNITY TO WATCH THE FUTURE STARS OF THE PGA TOUR FIRSTHAND AND GENERATES MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF ECONOMIC IMPACT AND MEDIA EXPOSURE TO THE STATE AND MANY OF ITS LOCAL COMMUNITIES. SUPPORT FOR THE TOURNAMENT COMES PRIMARILY FROM NATIONAL, STATE, AND LOCAL SPONSORS IN THE FORM OF CASH AND IN-KIND DONATIONS THAT OFFSET DIRECT EVENT EXPENSES. NOTABLE UTAH CHAMPIONSHIP ALUMNI INCLUDE TONY FINAU, JOHN DALY, BUBBA WATSON, ZACH JOHNSON, AND 2018 UTAH CHAMPIONSHIP CHAMPION AND BREAKOUT PGA TOUR STAR, CAMERON CHAMP. IN ADDITION TO SHOWCASING WORLD CLASS GOLF, THE PGA TOUR HAS AN EMPHASIS ON CHARITABLE GIVING AND CREATING A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITIES WHERE ITS TOURNAMENTS ARE HELD. OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS, THE TOURNAMENT HAS DONATED MORE THAN 250,000 TO UTAH BASED CHARITIES SUCH AS THE HUNTSMAN CANCER FOUNDATION, THE TONY FINAU FOUNDATION, AND THE LOCAL CHAPTER OF THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB. AS PART OF ITS CHARITABLE FOCUS, THE PGA TOUR REQUIRES ITS TOURNAMENT ORGANIZERS TO BE REGISTERED 501(C)(3) NON-PROFITS AND DONATE A PORTION OF EVENT PROCEEDS TO A BONA FIDE CHARITY.
SPORTS AWARDS AND SPONSORSHIPS - THE SPORTS AWARDS AND SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ATTRACT, RETAIN, AND GROW NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL AMATEUR SPORTS COMPETITIONS THAT TAKE PLACE WITHIN THE STATE OF UTAH. SPONSORSHIP IS PROVIDED TO EVENTS THAT GENERATE SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC IMPACT, MEDIA EXPOSURE, AND/OR ARE OF STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE IN POSITIONING THE STATE FAVORABLY IN A PARTICULAR SPORTS DISCIPLINE, CATEGORY, OR GENRE.
SPORTS EVENTS, TV ADVERTISING, PROMOTION AND MARKETING - THE SPORTS COMPETITIONS AND EVENTS THAT THE UTAH SPORTS COMMISSION PARTNERS WITH SERVE AS VALUABLE ECONOMIC IMPACT AND IMAGE BUILDING DRIVERS, ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT PROVIDE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL TELEVISION EXPOSURE. BY SHOWCASING UTAH'S AWE-INSPIRING LANDSCAPES TO A BROAD AUDIENCE, THE ORGANIZATION MORE EFFECTIVELY TARGETS KEY TOURISM DEMOGRAPHICS THROUGH STRATEGIC ADVERTISEMENTS, BRAND ASSOCIATIONS, AND CALLS TO ACTION. FURTHERMORE, BECAUSE MAJOR SPORTS COMPETITIONS TEND TO BE FOLLOWED BY SIGNIFICANT TELEVISION COVERAGE, DIGITAL, SOCIAL, AND OTHER MEDIA ASSETS, THE ORGANIZATION ACTIVELY PURSUES THESE TYPES OF EVENTS AS PART OF ITS MARKETING AND BRANDING STRATEGY. BY LEVERAGING THE MEDIA ASSETS ASSOCIATED WITH SOME OF THE WORLD'S MOST PRE-EMINENT SPORTING EVENTS, THE ORGANIZATION IS BETTER ABLE TO PROMOTE AND BRAND UTAH AS, "UTAH: THE STATE OF SPORT," WHILE CEMENTING UTAH'S STATUS AS A PREMIER DESTINATION FOR WORLD CLASS INTERNATIONAL, NATIONAL, AND OLYMPIC RELATED SPORTS COMPETITIONS. UTAH OLYMPIC LEGACY AND RELATED EFFORTS - THE GOVERNOR AND THE UTAH STATE LEGISLATURE HAVE ENCOURAGED THE UTAH SPORTS COMMISSION TO HELP LEAD THE STATE'S OLYMPIC BID AND EXPLORATION EFFORTS. THE ORGANIZATION HAS MAINTAINED A LONG RUNNING FOCUS ON LANDING EVENTS THAT BUILD ON UTAH'S OLYMPIC LEGACY AND POSITION THE STATE FAVORABLY WITH KEY OLYMPIC CONSTITUENCIES AS IT LOOKS TO HOST ANOTHER OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES. THE UTAH SPORTS COMMISSION, THE STATE OF UTAH, AND ITS MANY PARTNERS HAVE MAINTAINED AND SUCCESSFULLY EXECUTED ON A COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGY THAT HAS LEFT UTAH UNIQUELY POSITIONED AS "READY, WILLING, AND ABLE" TO HOST ANOTHER OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES.
