AS A CONSTITUENT DISTRICT ORGANIZATION OF THE UNITED STATES TENNIS ASSOCIATION, THE UTA PROMOTES THE DEVELOPMENT OF TENNIS AS A MEANS OF HEALTHFUL RECREATION & PHYSICAL FITNESS, ESTABLISHES & ENFORCES RULES OF PLAY & HIGH STANDARDS OF AMATEURISM & GOOD
2019 continued to show great growth in the adult programming for the state. Leagues were greatly up in unique and total participation. League registration was up over 500 players from the previous year, with over 100 unique player increases. UTA ran 14 leagues, plus several social leagues throughout the year. In addition to hosting 3 adult tournaments on a large scale, the UTA also ran multiple short format NTRP tournaments. Junior programming consists of tournaments for players throughout the community, team events for recreational players, high performance training camp, and National level tournaments for our highest performance players. The UTA also offers matchplay experience for recreational players through the Liveball program.The UTA continued to offer grants to help facilities and communities provide affordable programming for juniors and adults. The UTA ran free programs throughout the year for underserved populations. In addition, the UTA provides free training for instructors in outlying areas and communities parks and recs. The UTA also runs a vibrant wheelchair tennis program, with free instruction and court time throughout the year.Reaching new players, and reaching diverse populations continues to be a major accomplishment and goal for the UTA. Community socials for the younger demographic, for church youth groups, and LGBT outreach. The UTA participates in the PRIDE event each year in order to let everyone know that all are welcome in our tennis community. Outreach to smaller communities in our state such as Kanab and Logan continues to be a focus for the staff of the UTA.In addition to Junior Recreation, the junior competitive tournament schedule, and training teams continue to be vibrant in our community. Over 50 tournaments for juniors are held during the year.The UTA continues to offer training to Parks and Recs and anyone in our state who has an interest in learning how to teach tennis with the new ROGY methodology. Travel around the state to help outreach programs is critical to the UTAs mission. Diversity and Inclusion, and adaptive tennis are important to the UTA, with programs to help children in underserved communities offered year round.The UTA launched a new website in 2018 that will make connecting to us and learning about tennis programs much easier.
