Organizations Filed Purposes: Color Country Animal Welfare's mission is to reduce the number of stray cats and dogs in the Wayne Country area and to advocate for the welfare of all animals. CCAW is the only public organization in south central Utah that provides services, educational resources and financial support to promote the humane treatment of animals. In the summer of 2021 we will open our new facility which in addition to housing rescued cats and dogs, will allow million plus annual tourists the opportunity to board their pets who are not allowed into Capitol Reef National Park and cannot be left alone at an RV Park or motel, or in a hot car.

Our mission is to reduce the number of stray cats and dogs in the Wayne County area and to advocate for the welfare of all animals. We assist with spays and neuters, animal adoptions and rescues and help care for a number of cat colonies. In the summer of 2021, we will open a new animal care facility. In addition to housing rescued animals, we will provide tourists and residents the ability to board their pets.

Animal Services - CCAW helps residents get their dogs and cats sterilized. Our Trap, Neuter, Return, TNR, efforts aim to reduce the number of community cats in the area. Community cats are unowned cats that may be feral (unsociable), friendly, born in the wild, or abandoned. We help trap these cats and provide vouchers so the care giver can take them to our local vet where they get fixed. receive a rabies vaccine and other basic care if needed at an affordable cost. We assisted with 176 cats in 2020. We assist families on a sliding scale with sterilizing their dogs and providing basic medical care. We helped with 19 dogs in 2020. Volunteers and board members continually provide foster homes and seek permanent homes for adoptable animals. CCAW provides information and solutions for homeless, abandoned or rescued pets to facilitate their adoptions. We work with the sheriff's department and Capitol Reef National Park when unwanted animals are found. In 2020 we helped 105 animals find their owners or a new home. 33 of these were handled in our foster and adoption program, the remainder were assistance we provided with social media postings.
