Kennedys Hugs was formed in honor of Kennedy Ann Hansen, who passed away from terminal juvenile Batten disease. Other accomplishments included the provision of clothing, gift cards, and supplies to individuals and families in need donation of movies and books produced by the foundation to community members donation of food/meals, camp costs, medical costs, and scholarships to the community guided trips, vacation lodging and activities, and event tickets for families of afflicted children assistance in fundraising for treatment of terminal juvenile Batten disease and other similar diseases and financial assistance for funerals/memorials and flowers for the families of deceased children.
