Organizations Filed Purposes: Conserve and steward tracts of agricultural and natural landscapes that are identified for their scenic beauty, ecological diversity, historical value and cultural significance

In pursuit of its mission and purpose, the land trust ensures that properties acquired and held for conservation stewardship have thorough baseline documentation as a part of the acquisition process, are monitored at least annually to ensure their protection ($2,644) and have adequate liability insurance coverage ($6,615). During consideration of land acquisition projects, the land trust visits each property to ensure the land offers conservation values aligned with the mission of the organization ($1,264). Thorough due diligence is completed during each land acquisition transaction.

The part-time executive director delivers land trust programs including developing land conservation projects, participating in community conservation and stewardship initiatives, and educating and raising support for conservation and stewardship with the general public.

TVIL engages the public by hosting community gatherings, participating in community conservation efforts and meeting with prospective land donors ($1,100). Annual membership in the Land Trust Alliance is maintained and the land trust participates in the annual LTA conference ($1,275). A website and social media presence is maintained, and landowners and the general public are provided with information about options for land protection and stewardship ($957). Administrative guidelines recommended for bestpractices for land trust operations are followed.
