It is the mission of the Virgin Islands Children's Museum to bring children and families together in an interactive educational space where impactful play inspires a love of learning. We do so primarily through providing access to our high-quality exhibits to the general public. We generate program income through general admission ticket sales, membership sales, and sales in our gift shop. In 2019, we welcomed 14,628 visitors.

Through the Free Field Trip Program, the museum was able to schedule 32 free field trips, which welcomed 662 children, and 155 educators and chaperones. The program covers all expenses for the children, including transportation, and they are able to experience the museum and delve into the hands-on exhibits.

The museum launched Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in the territory to promote early childhood literacy. In 2019, the museum had 782 children in the territory enrolled and receiving a free book each month from birth to age 5. A total of 5682 books were mailed to children in the territory in 2019.
