THE YMCA BUILDS A STRONG COMMUNITY BY INVOLVING YOUTH, ADULTS, AND FAMILIES IN PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES THAT HELP THEM LEARN, GROW, AND THRIVE. WE STRIVE TO ELIMINATE BARRIERS TO PARTICIPATION BY OFFERING BOTH DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND SUBSIDIZED AND FREE PROGRAMS.
OUR YMCA IS COMMITTED TO NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY CHILD AND TEEN. WE BELIEVE THAT ALL KIDS DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY CAN ACHIEVE. THAT'S WHY WE HELP YOUNG PEOPLE CULTIVATE THE VALUES, SKILLS, AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, BETTER HEALTH, AND EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT. OUR PROGRAMS, SUCH AS OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, ENRICHMENT, AND AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS OFFER A RANGE OF EXPERIENCES THAT ENRICH COGNITIVE, SOCIAL, PHYSICAL, AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH. IN 2019, WE PROVIDED $186,000 IN DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO MAKE PARTICIPATION POSSIBLE FOR HUNDREDS OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE WE ENGAGE.
HEALTHY LIVING: THE YMCA IS A RECOGNIZED LEADER ON HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. WE OFFER PROGRAMS THAT ALLOW INDIVIDUALS TO BE FIT AND ENGAGE IN HEALTHY ACTIVITIES IN A FUN, SUPPORTIVE, AND WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT. AS A RESULT, OVER 12,600 PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE RECEIVING THE SUPPORT, GUIDANCE, AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO ACHIEVE GREATER HEALTH AND PROMOTE A VITAL COMMUNITY. OUR PROGRAMS ARE ACCESSIBLE, AFFORDABLE, AND OPEN TO ALL FAITHS, BACKGROUNDS, ABILITIES, AND INCOME LEVELS. IN 2019, WE PROVIDED $141,000 IN DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PEOPLE WHO OTHERWISE WOULD HAVE FACED ECONOMIC BARRIERS TO PARTICIPATION.
OUR RESIDENTIAL AND DAY CAMPING PROGRAMS OFFER ADVENTURE AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES THAT PROVIDE CHALLENGE AND EDUCATION, PROMOTE SPIRITUAL AWARENESS, MENTAL DEVELOPMENT, PHYSICAL WELL-BEING, SOCIAL GROWTH, AND SELF-RESPECT. OUR COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM PROVIDES TEENS WITH LEADERSHIP SKILLS THEY CAN USE THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES. OUR CAMPS ARE OPEN TO ALL, REGARDLESS OF INCOME OR SPECIAL NEEDS, SO THAT CHILDREN APPRECIATE DIVERSITY, BECOME COMMUNITY LEADERS, AND DEVELOP LIFELONG VALUES. WE ALSO OFFER SEVERAL FAMILY CAMPING PROGRAMS PROVIDING THE OPPORTUNITY TO STRENGTHEN FAMILY BONDS IN A RELAXED, FUN, NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. IN 2019, WE SERVED OVER 1,400 YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES AND PROVIDED PROGRAM DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN THE AMOUNT OF $83,000.
