The King Street Center's mission is to create a place where kids meet opportunity through learning, play and community.
Early Education - A "Vermont Five-Star" preschool program for children ages eighteen months to five years. The organization's play-based program fosters children's development in the areas of literacy, creative arts, math and science, physical health, language development, social and emotional growth, and approaches to learning.
After School - A large and diverse program, "Afterschool Excellence" serves children in grades K-5 and includes homework help, technology education, athletics and the arts. King Street is also home to one of the largest mentoring programs in the State where children are matched one-on-one with caring adults in the community.
Teen Drop-In & Teen Futures - XDrop-In" provides a safe and welcoming place where teens meet in the evening to do homework, use a computer or play sports with friends. "Teen Futures", an innovative program for middle and high-school youth, focuses on recreation, academic achievement, experiential activities, job training and college preparation. "King Street Lemonade" is our highly regarded job-training program for at-risk youth where kids eleven and up learn what it takes to enter the world of work by running their own food service business on the Church Street Marketplace during the busy summer months.
