Organizations Filed Purposes:
AS A COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION WE PROVIDE CONFIDENTIAL, TEMPORARY FOOD, CLOTHING AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO HELP ECONOMICALLY AND NUTRITIONALLY INSECURE INDIVIDUALS RETURN TO SELF SUFFICIENCY. WE RECEIVE SUPPORT FROM INDIVIDUAL AND BUSINESS DONATIONS AND ORGANIZATIONAL GRANTS.
IN 2013 WE DISTRIBUTED FOOD WITH AN ESTIMATED RETAIL VALUE OF $100,000 TO NUTRITIONALLY INSECURE CLIENTS IN OUR AREA. WE OFFER A VARIETY OF FOODSTUFFS TO AFFORD OUR CLIENTS NUTRITIONALLY BALANCED MENUS. WE PURCHASED FOOD FROM THE VT FOOD BANK AND LOCAL VENDORS. A LARGE PORTION OF THE FOOD THAT WE DISTRIBUTED WAS DONATED TO US BY LOCAL INDIVIDUALS AND ORGAINIZATIONS THAT HELD MULTIPLE FOOD DRIVES. WE DISTRIBUTED USDA FOODS FOR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SUPPLEMENTING THESE DELIVERIES WITH FOOD FROM OUR OWN SHELVES SINCE THESE RECIPIENTS ARE AMONG THE POOREST IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE SERVE THE 173 SQUARE MILES OF LUDLOW, CAVENDISH, PLYMOUTH AND MOUNT HOLLY, VT. IN 2013 WE ASSISTED CLIENTS WITH PAYMENTS FOR RENT, FUEL, AND ELECTRICITY WHEN THEY FACED EVICTION, COLD OR LOSS OF SERVICE. WE ENSURED THAT RECIPIENTS HAD OTHER HELP OR RESOURCES TO OVERCOME TEMPORARY HARDSHIP AND GAVE THEM A LIFELINE TO STAVE OFF DISASTER IN THEIR LIVES. WE WORK WITH OUR CLIENTS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY HAVE ACCESS TO ALL AVAILABLE BENEFITS FROM ALL GOVERNMENTAL AND PRIVATE SOURCES. WE LIMIT HELP TO THE DIREST CASES. IT IS OUR GOAL TO GUARANTEE THAT ALL CLIENTS HAVE THE NECESSITIES OF LIFE. WE RAISED FUNDS FOR THIS PROGRAM THROUGH DONATIONS AND SPECIAL EVENTS. IN 2013 WE OPERATED A THRIFT SHOP TO GENERATE THE REVENUE NECESSARY TO PAY A SMALL STAFF SO THAT WE HAVE PEOPLE ON SITE FIVE DAYS EACH WEEK TO HELP NUTRITIONALLY AND FINANCIALLY DISTRESSED CLIENTS WITH OUR FOOD AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS. THE THRIFT SHOP ALSO PROVIDES FREE CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS TO THOSE IN OUR SERVICE AREA WHO CANNOT AFFORD TO BUY THEM. WE OFFER MODESTLY PRICED MERCHANDISE THAT IS NOT OTHERWISE AVAILABLE IN OUR RURAL COMMUNITY. WE ARE CENTRALLY LOCATED IN OUR SERVICE AREA TO BETTER SERVE THOSE WHO LACK ADEQUATE TRANSPORTATION. ALL MERCHANDISE IS DONATED, AND DONATIONS THAT WE DO NOT SELL OR GIVE AWAY ARE DISTRIBUTED TO OTHER CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR STATE.
