Organizations Filed Purposes: TO ENGAGE THE PUBLIC IN BUILDING A REGENERATIVE, LOCALLY-BASED HEALTHY FOOD SYSTEM THROUGH PROVIDING COMMUNITY OPEN SPACE FOR AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION AND PUBLIC EVENTS, THROUGH RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF VALUE ADDED AND LOCAL PRODUCTS TO ENHANCE THE STRENGTH OF VERMONT AGRICULTURE, AND THROUGH ASSISTING IN HUNGER RELIEF AND LOCAL FOOD ACCESS PROJECTS.

Vermont Food Venture Center: The VFVC is a shared-use kitchen and food business incubator available to value-added and specialty food producers looking to launch or scale up their food-based enterprise. VFVC clients can rent the kitchens on an hourly basis, utilize co-packing services, and take advantage of technical assistance workshops and a suite of business advising services. CAEs Farm-to-Institution Program also operates out of the VFVC, lightly processing local farm-fresh produce for sale and distribution to Vermonts public schools, colleges, and hospitals. The VFVC is designed to meet all the mission elements of the Center for an Agricultural Economy by providing infrastructure, education, and technical assistance to develop and promote the viability of the local agricultural economy.

Food System Access and Education: The purpose of this program is to raise awareness of the local food system and create collaborative partnerships to enhance the community's understanding of food and farming and relieve the incidence of hunger through local food access. The program includes our management of the Hardwick Community Gardens at Atkins Field, our Grow Your Own project with the Hardwick Area Food Pantry, our Place-Based Education initiatives within the OSSU school district, and other public events which center on agriculture and working landscapes.

Technical Assistance: Through this program, CAE provides specialized technical support and business planning assistance to help Vermont farmers refine production systems, identify new markets, improve cash flow, and achieve personal and professional goals necessary to sustain their farm business.
