Organizations Filed Purposes: MARY JOHNSON CHILDREN'S CENTER WILL PROMOTE THE HEALTH AND HAPPINESS OF CHILDREN AND RESPECT FOR FAMILES.

MARY JOHNSON CHILDREN'S CENTER AND ITS AFFILIATED PROGRAMS CONTINUED TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY SERVICES FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN MIDDLEBURY AND BEYOND. USING A DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE AND CREATIVE REGGIO EMILIA- BASED EARLY CHILDHOOD CURRICULUM, WE SERVED 110 CHILDREN IN TODDLER AND PRESCHOOL/KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOMS AT OUR MIDDLEBURY, EAST MIDDLEBURY, AND ORWELL SITES. WE PROVIDED FREE BREAKFASTS, LUNCHES, AND SNACKS TO OVER 90 CHILDREN THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, AND SERVED OVER 10,000 MEALS TO HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN THROUGH THE MIDDLEBURY NOURISHES PROGRAM DURING THE SUMMER. 15 CHILDREN RECEIVED THERAPEUTIC CHILD CARE SERVICES FOR DIAGNOSED MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS. COLLABORATING WITH SPECIAL EDUCATORS AND THERAPISTS, OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHERS HELPED CHILDREN GAIN ADAPTIVE SKILLS AND THRIVE, CREATING ENGAGING, STIMULATING ENVIRONMENTS AND EXPERIENCES FOR DIVERSE GROUPS OF LEARNERS. MARY JOHNSON PROVIDED AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS FOR OVER 150 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN THROUGHOUT ADDISON COUNTY. IN MIDDLEBURY, WE ALSO COMPLETED INTERIOR RENOVATIONS OF THE BARRERA HOUSE, WHICH NOW HOUSES OUR INFANT PROGRAM AS WELL AS THE SCHOOL AGE AND HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICES. MJCC CONTINUES TO ADMINISTER ADDISON COUNTY CHILDCARE SERVICES AND SUBSIDY SERVICES. THE REFERRAL SPECIALIST WORKED WITH APPROXIMATELY 150 FAMILIES WHO WERE SEARCHING FOR CHILD CARE IN ADDISON COUNTY. THE ADDISON COUNTY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SPECIALIST HAD A STEADY CASELOAD OF ABOUT 300 FAMILIES RECEIVING TUITION ASSISTANCE THROUGH THE STATE OF VERMONT. THE STARS OR STEP AHEAD RECOGNITION PROGRAM CONTINUED TO GROW, PROVIDING ASSESSMENT, GUIDANCE, AND SUPPORT TO LICENSED EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. 2019 WAS THE SIXTH SUCCESSFUL SUMMER FOR RURAL FUN DELIVERY, AN EIGHT-WEEK OUTREACH PROGRAM SERVING THREE TRAILER PARKS IN STARKSBORO WITH MEALS, BOOKS, AND ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN. THROUGH OUR STRENGTHENING FAMILIES PROGRAM, WE OFFERED DINNERS, CHILD CARE, AND FAMILY THERAPY SESSIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE A COMMITMENT TO PARTICIPATE. WE CONTINUED COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS SUCH AS VT FARM TO SCHOOL, PROVIDING SURPLUS FRESHLY HARVESTED VEGETABLES TO MJCC FAMILIES FROM LOCAL FARMS, AND WELCOMING WEDNESDAYS, CREATING A SOCIAL CONNECTION FOR PARENTS DURING DROP-OFF TIME OVER BAGELS AND COFFEE. STAFF MEMBERS' POSTED PHOTOS AND BIOS AND CHILDREN'S SELF-PORTRAITS DISPLAYED IN HALLWAYS GIVE MARY JOHNSON CHILDREN'S CENTER A WARM FEELING, AS THOUGH WE'RE ALL FAMILY HERE. THAT SPIRIT IS BROUGHT TO LIFE BY MJCC STAFF AT ALL OUR SITES.
