- TO BRING PEOPLE OF ALL AGES TOGETHER IN PROJECTS THAT ACTIVATE THEIR CREATIVTY TO IMAGINE AND BUILD MORE THRIVING COMMUNITIES.
THE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT LAB ("CEL") WAS FOUNDED IN 2011 TO FOSTER NEW MODELS OF ENGAGEMENT BETWEEN SCHOOLS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE CEL'S PROGRAMMING IS KNOWN AS THE VERMONT CREATIVE SCHOOLS INITIATIVE (VSCI), WHICH BRINGS PRE-K TO 12TH GRADE EDUCATORS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS TOGETHER TO BUILD PROJECTS THAT PROVIDE MORE CREATIVITY LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR VERMONT STUDENTS. THE VSCI IS COMPRISED OF THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: (1) PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEACHERS AND TEACHING ARTISTS; (2)EXTENDED IN-SCHOOL TEACHING ARTIST RESIDENCY PROJECTS; (3) THE VERMONT CREATIVE LEARNING FORUM, WHICH HELPS EDUCATORS, STUDENTS AND COMMMUNITY LEADERS ADVANCE VERMONT'S EFFORTS AT PLACING CREATIVITY AT THE CENTER OF LEARNING.
