PROMOTE & SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION RECOVERY ISSUES IN VERMONT.
We mobilize Vermonters: leading awareness campaigns including recovery month events and recovery day each March at the Vermont Statehouse. We provide a voice for mental health and addiction concerns to such important issues as health care and funding for services. WE ALSO RUN THE NATIONALLY RENOWNED VERMONT RECOVERY COACH ACADEMY, THE STATE'S RECOVERY SUPPORT WORKFORCE TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION.
The organization also runs a renowned children's mental health program that serves young Vermonters between the ages of 8 and 12. These youngsters are paired with college aged interns who are interested in careers in Mental Health. This award winning model allows for strength based mentoring and career development--all in a joyous setting.
We believe that well-trained peers are one of the keys to recovery. We offer the Vermont Recovery Coach Academy that gives peers the skills and tools needed for coaching those in recovery. We have particular expertise in co-occurring issues: helping those Vermonters who are challenged by mental health and substance use disorders. Since 2010, we have graduated over 565 peer coaches. We have also just received a major federal grant that will allow us to train and nurture the next generation of leaders in the recovery movement. Our camp programs are run by over 60 college age volunteers who are training to be the next generation of leaders in the mental health and social work fields. Our free information clearinghouse and mental health information service provides comprehensive and valuable resources to all Vermonters. We develop resources on the latest trends and threats in Vermont; maintaining an active statewide network and presence. We also disseminate current research on recovery, mental health, and health care.
