Vermont Parks Forever exists to enhance and protect the Vermont State Parks through charitable support. VPF increases access to state parks, provides innovative education, and inspires environmental stewardship.
Vermont Parks Forever ("VPF") remained focused on fundraising to support enhancements to Vermont State Parks through innovative educational opportunities and increased access to parks for underserved communities. In 2019, VPF continued to provide park passes for 150 foster families, provided funding for at risk youth to visit state parks as part of a summer literacy camp, funded park entry fees for a growing adaptive kayaking program held in a state park for people with mobility impairments, and underwrote an annual memorial summer youth internship on Mount Philo. VPF continued to collaborate on and raise funds for VPF's first large partnership project, "Natural Connections" to redesign the nature centers in six state parks, beginning with the Groton Nature Center and then Button Bay Nature Center. Working with Vermont State Parks and ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, VPF is helping to inspire stewardship and life-long connections to the natural world through innovative, customized place-based education in state park nature centers. The renovated and revitalized Groton Nature Center is planning to open in the summer of 2021. VPF increased awareness of its partnership with Vermont State Parks by engaging with Vermonters and park visitors on social media, Vermont Public Radio, an online newsletter, and its website www.vermontparksforever.org.
