Adaptive Sports at Mount Snow is a volunteer-driven non-profit that provides adaptive sports, recreational opportunities and educational experiences to the Mount Snow community and its visitors throughout the year. Adaptive Sports at Mount Snow helps individuals with disabilities to develop skills and instill pride and confidence that enables them to demonstrate their strengths and capabilities.
The purpose of Mount Snow Adaptive Sports is to provide opportunities for individuals with any type of disability to participate in year-round athletic and recreational activities. The organization is committed to including all who wish to participate.
ASMS served approximately 335 individuals through 830 adaptive ski and snowboard lessons. This season's client profile included six elementary, middle, and high school special needs classrooms involved in the 8-week Winter Sports School Program, and the Bluebirds Special Olympics Ski and Snowboard Team. Also, ASMS hosted special programs to serve veterans groups, rehab hospitals, community living centers, and specialized support networks. In the summer of 2020, ASMS ran a teen adventure weekend, rafting family days, and Special Olympics golf among other events. We had approximately 190 volunteers who donated approximately a collective 5,000 volunteer hours.
