THE COMPASS SCHOOL SUPPORTS EVERY STUDENT TO FIND SUCCESS IN SCHOOL, EXPAND THEIR HORIZONS AND DEVELOP AS GOOD STUDENTS AND GOOD COMMUNITY MEMBERS.
THE COMPASS SCHOOL INSPIRES AND EDUCATES STUDENTS IN GRADES 7-12 TO PURSUE THEIR DREAMS AND MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE WORLD
MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION DESIGNED TO ENGAGE DIVERSE LEARNERS WITH A WIDE RANGE OF EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES, PERSONALIZED FOR DIFFERENT LEARNING NEEDS, WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENT LEADERSHIP SO EVERY STUDENT FINDS SUCCESS IN SCHOOL AND HAS THE 21ST CENTURY SKILLS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR COMMUNITY.
HEALTH- WE CONTINUE TO EXPAND OUR COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO HEALTH AND WELLNESS. OUR MAIN FINANCIAL NEED IS THE COST OF OUR COUNSELOR AND A SPECIAL EDUCATION ASSISTANT WHO SUPPORTS STUDENTS SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL NEEDS AND LEADS CLASSES ON MINDFULLNESS. THESE TWO STAFF ALSO FACILITATE OUR WELLNESS COMMITTEE, WHICH IS A STUDENT LED GROUP THAT TAKES LEADERSHIP FOR THE HEALTH AND WELL BEING OF THEIR PEERS, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES. THIS GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS PUTS STUDENTS WITH THEIR OWN HEALTH ISSUES IN THE ROLE OF LEADERS WHO CAN TAKE THEIR CHALLENGES AND USE THEM TO GUIDE PROGRAMMING AND SUPPORTS TO HELP ALL STUDENTS.
SPECIAL EDUCATION: COMPASS HAS A WRAP AROUND APPOACH TO SPECIAL EDUCATION THAT SUPPORTS STUDENTS ACROSS ALL SCHOLL PROGRAMS, WHETHER OR NOT THEY HAVE IDENTIFIED SPECIAL NEEDS. OUR RECENT 5 YEARS REAPPROVAL EXPANDED THE CATEGORIES WE CAN SERVE TO INCLUDE ED (EMOTIONAL DISABILITY), OI (ORTHOPEDIC IMPAIRMENT) AND SPEECH AND LANGUAGE INPAIRMENT (SLI) IN ADDITION TO OUR PREVIOUS APPROVALS FOR SLD, OHI, AND ASD. WHILE NOT A SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOOL, COMPASS IS INCLUSIVE OF A WIDE DIVERSITY OF LEARNERS AND HAS A PERSONALIZED APPROACH TO EDUCATION WHERE EVERY STUDENT CAN FIND SUCCESS. IN ADDITION TO DIRECT SPECIAL EDUCATION SUPPORTS, ALL ASPECTS OF THE PROGRAM ARE DESIGNED TO PROACTIVELY INCLUDE ALL LEARNERS, BE ADAPTABLE FOR DIFFERENT LEARNING NEEDS, AND OFFER OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO EXERCISE LEADERSHIP TO MAKE MODIFICATIONS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR SUCCESS IN SCHOOL.
