United Health Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation formed to provide support to United Hospital Center, Inc. UHC to improve health status for the residents of North Central West Virginia through contributions.
United Health Foundation helps execute Camp Catch Your Breath. Camp Catch Your Breath celebrates its 30th anniversary this year with a week-long camp for children ages 8 to 13 who suffer from asthma. Primarily sponsored and funded by United Hospital Center, with assistance from the American Lung Association, the camp will again be held at Jacksons Mill 4-H Camp, offering 24-hour professional staffing to monitor asthma medications, offer asthma education and nutrition classes. The specialty camp is capable of handling 70 campers who are taken on a first come, first serve basis. If a camper were to have to pay entirely for attending, cost would be 500 but thanks to hospital funding, local businesses and individual contributions, costs have been kept to 70 per child with scholarships available for those who need assistance.
Peoples Hospice offers care and support to patients with terminal illness and their loved ones. During 2019, Peoples Hospice had 25,598 days of service. In 2019, Hospice added another location in Keyser which had 2,004 days of service.
Other program services include but are not limited to Diabetes Tobacco Education through United Hospital Center UHC. Supporting UHC through the Nurse Navigator Program and UHC program departments such as Pediatrics, Oncology, Cardiac Rehab, and Radiology School.
