Coda promotes character traits life skills that can prepare participants for future pursuits in any field to live productive, fulfilling lives. Creative training offered at multi-levels in music, robotics, art, other subjects in after school programs, summer camps community classes, build positive relationships empower students.
Coda provides high caliber educational opportunities in a challenging but nuturing environment via afterschool programs, summer music robotics day camps, residential summer music camp, evening community classes.
Coda InspireFree after-school programs occur 5 days a week in 5 locations, 2 are local schools. Coda Inspire provides classes in music, robotics, cooking art. Students are loaned an instrument receive a free hot meal a bus ride home. Many students who are struggling academically not participating in sports or other regular activities after school have found their safe place to belong succeed at Coda Inspire. Parents teachers report increased confidence initiative once students join the program. Data continues to show improved attendance decreased behavioral referrals for students in Coda programs. Coda Excel provides free innovative support for math, science history to some of the schools most challenged students using arts integration, including historical drama via a time machine.
Summer CampsCoda Fine Arts music , art and drama camps served 110 kids over a two week period. The theme was Broadway The concert at the end was packed and enthusisastically received. Coda Explores two weeks of STEM camps provided over 50 children with activities in Lego Robotics, alternative energy and survival skills.
Other ProgramsCodas robust feeding program provides about 1300 hot meals per month to all students participating in Coda programing. It is the best meal of the week for many of our children who live in poverty and food insecurity. Coda Community provides evening classes open to all ages in robotics, music and art, along with dinner , all for a small fee. One robotics team, the Galactic Potato Ducks, made it past state to international competition This team, which included seriously at-risk kids, raised money to go on a field trip to DC to visit the Goddard Space Center. They received clearance to go behind the scenes to see the robotic arm connected with the space station. Coda, along with other youth programs, presented to 887 4th 5th graders during ProjectAdventure May 2019 with hands-on music, art, robotics and other activites at Fayette County park during a two-day, school time event.
